Moldovan deputy premier meets Regional Director for Europe, Central Asia in ESEA

Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan met with Thomas Mayr – Harting, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia in the European Service for External Action (ESEA) today, who was accompanied by the Ambassador of the European Union in Moldova, Pirkka Tapiola, the office for reintegration policies’ press service has reported.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the latest developments in the Transnistrian issue in Chisinau-Tiraspol dialogue and prospects for progress in the negotiation process.
It was outlined the Moldovan authorities’ openness to discuss in all existing platforms for dialogue. Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of a shared vision of the state authorities, particularly the continuity in the negotiation format "5+2" and finding a political solution to the Transnistrian conflict while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova.
They also discussed the relevant aspects to Berlin Protocol and other major issues. In this context, Gheorghe Balan expressed his desire to participate in the traditional Bavarian conference entitled: "Measures to strengthen confidence in settlement of the Transnistrian conflict", where he would expose to actions taken by the sides for the benefit of population on both banks.
The further discussed topic was the establishment of joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border on the central segment (Transnistrian), being highlighted the advantages and benefits for the population and economic entities of Transnistria.
