Moldovan parliament adopts decision appointing to office director of energy regulator's administrative board

Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ - The director of the Public Procurement Agency at the Economics Ministry, Tudor Copaci, was appointed director of the Administrative Board of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), according to a decision passed by parliament today.
Copaci was appointed at a proposal by the parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finances. Following hearings within the commission, Tudor Copaci gained the largest number of points – 821.
Tudor Copaci is presently director of the Public Procurement Agency at the Economics Ministry, an office held also on the period 2009-2013. In 2008-2009, as well as in 2013-2015, Copaci was deputy economics minister, in charge of the energy sector. In January-September 2016, he held the office of government’s secretary general.
Ten candidates participated in the contest in all. The former ANRE head, expert of the Viitorul Institute Victor Parlicov, who ranked second, gained 750 points, Vasile Daud – 615, Alexandru Lupan – 597 and Mihail Cernei – 545.
More representatives of the civil society and energy experts have earlier proposed that the future directors of the ANRE Administrative Board be elected by a special commission, according to the model of the one which selected the governor of the National Bank of Moldova.
