Moldovan president presents results of meeting with Tiraspol leader

Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon presented the results of a today’s meeting with Tiraspol leader Vadim Krasnoselsky.
At a news conference, the head of state said that that, at the meeting, the sides had discussed problems of citizens and economic agents from the two banks of Dniester. “Following the meeting, we managed to simplify the procedure of movement to the Transnistrian region, as well as the good work of the Latin-script schools. Today, Mr. Krasnoselsky handed me over a list of ten officials for whom the earlier opened files were ceased or cancelled. At the same time, we agreed that the mechanism of access of people to the lands placed beyond the Dubasari highway be given the final touches next week,” Igor Dodon said.
According to the head of state, the participants in the meeting also discussed the setting up of a joint border checkpoint with Ukraine Pervomaysk-Kuchurgan. Thus, experts of the president’s Apparatus are to make an assessment of possible economic risks able to emerge after the creation of this checkpoint, “as the Transnistrian side voiced more concerns on this subject.”
“Also today, we ruled to launch two initiatives of economic infrastructure projects. Along with Mr. Krasnoselsky, we will appeal to our donors and international partners with a proposal to financially back the restoration of two international highways – M14 and M21.The projects will facilitate the trade, as well as will improve the living of the citizens from both banks of Dniester. The second project concerns the ecologic situation of the Dniester river; thus, we agreed to identify sources and international projects, in order to save the Dniester river. The next meeting with Mr. Krasnoselsky is scheduled for May 2017,” Igor Dodon said.
The first meeting of the head of state with Tiraspol leader Vadim Krasnoselsky took place on 4 January this year.
