Moldovan PM, EU Commissioner’s attention on regional development projects

Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/ – Cooperation with EU in the context of regional development policy and Moldova's participation in EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) were discussed today by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Commissioner for EU Regional Policy, Corina Cretu, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The prime minister was referring to Moldova's interest in strengthening financial instruments available in the Danube strategy and identify new solutions and funding opportunities for non-EU states.
"We are still interested in the design and development of joint projects in areas such as energy efficiency, interconnection lines of communication and energy resources, environmental protection and sustainable development, strengthening academic exchanges and supporting innovations," said Pavel Filip.
At her part, Commissioner welcomed the results achieved by Moldova in implementation of the strategy and commitment to exploit the potential of the Danube Transnational Program 2014-2020. "I encourage you to use the Association Agreement mechanisms for regional development projects in Moldova. I assure you, that you will have in me a partner for dialoguing. The most important is to have the administrative capacity to absorb EU funds," said Corina Cretu.
By the meeting end, Prime Minister Pavel Filip invited EU Commissioner Corina Cretu to visit Moldova, the invitation accepted by the European official.
