Moldova signs new electricity supply contract with Ukraine

Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/- Energocom stock company has signed a contract on electricity supply to Moldova for 1 April 2017-31 March 2018 with DTEK Trading company in Ukraine.
According to a press release by the Economics Ministry, after considering the bids from Energocom and Kuchurgan power station, as well as negotiations with these companies, energy operators in Moldova have signed contracts with Energocom on purchase of electricity for 1 April 2017-31 March 2018.
The company’s offer was accepted by operators due to good price – 50.2 dollars per 1 megawatt. The Kuchurgan station in the first round of talks proposed a price of 58.5 dollars and decreased it to 54.4 dollars.
Both operators and members of group of observers who monitored the tender process for electricity, comprising representatives of the Economics Ministry, National Energy Regulatory Agency, EU Delegation to Moldova and Energy Community Secretariat noted that it had been organized transparently, in compliance with the instruction on annual purchase of electricity, coordinated with the Secretariat and implemented on 5 January 2017 by the Economics Minister’s order.
Last year, the electricity supply contracts were signed in early March. The Economics Ministry announced that the purchasing price of electricity was reduced for March 2016 by 12 per cent, and starting from 1 April by 28 per cent. Suppliers operating in Moldova purchased from 1 April 2016 according to new contracts the electricity by 28 per cent cheaper from Energocom than the previous year. Moldova paid a purchase price of 48,995 dollars per 1 megawatt, compared to 67.95 dollars until 1 March 2016.
Like in 2015, Moldova imported energy from one source, Kuchurgan power station, last year.
