Moldovan-Czech political consultations held in Prague

Chisinau, 03 April /MOLDPRES/ – A new round of consultations between the foreign ministries of the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic took place today, in Prague. The Moldovan delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Lilian Darii and the Czech delegation by Deputy Foreign Minister Jakub Dürr, The agenda included issues regarding the dynamics of the Moldovan-Czech relations, regional security, European affairs, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The two officials highlighted the good cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic at the bilateral level, expressing mutual interest in strengthening this collaboration. Thus, both sides underscored the openness to intensify economic and trade cooperation, and further relations in other sectorial areas. In this context, the two officials hailed the upward trend of two-way trade in 2016, underlining the need for joint efforts to maintain this dynamics in 2017.
Deputy Minister Darii reiterated the strong determination of the Moldovan Government to implement the reform agenda in accordance with the Association Agreement with the European Union, expressing gratitude to the Czech authorities for the support provided in this regard.
Deputy Minister Jestřáb highly appreciated the progress in the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, confirming the readiness of the Czech Government to continue supporting the Republic of Moldova in implementing structural reforms and achieving the objectives pursued in accordance with the European agenda.
With respect to the cooperation between the two countries within the frameworks of international organizations, regional security issues and security challenges in Europe, the sides noted the efficient interaction between the two states within the UN, OSCE, and Council of Europe. The tow officials also underlined the need to maintain the positive dynamics in the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Visegrád Group. Deputy Ministers also mentioned the need for the international community to join efforts in the process of combating illegal migration, terrorism, trafficking in human beings, etc.
The Moldovan official also informed about the concerns of his country’s Government with regard to the challenges and threats to regional security. In this context, he mentioned the efforts of the Moldovan authorities to identify, within the frameworks of the “5+2” negotiation process, a comprehensive and lasting solution to the Transnistrian conflict respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and offering a special status for Transnistria.
For his part, Czech Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated his Government's political will to continue to support the efforts to settle the Transnistrian conflict towards political negotiations, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova.
During the visit to the Czech Republic, Deputy Foreign Minister Lilian Darii also met with Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Jestřábi and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vladimír Bärtl.
