Moldovan deputy economics minister dismissed from office

Chisinau, 5 April /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers has dismissed Valeriu Triboi from the office of deputy economics minister, according to his application. Triboi is tried in a file for abuse of power.
Deputy Economics Minister Valeriu Triboi and other four persons last week were detained by prosecutors and officers of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) in a file on abuse of power and causing particularly big damages to the state budget. Triboi, his adviser and the director of the enterprise Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord (Electric Energy Supply North) were detained by CNA for 72 hours and then Triboi was placed under home arrest.
According to CNA, prosecutors found out that Valeriu Triboi made abuse of his position and, through the agency of third persons, he would have purchased from Moldtelecom, the founder of which is the Economics Ministry, a building worth almost one million lei and gave into renting to the enterprise Electric Energy Supply North for a ten-year period. The suspect would have given instructions to enterprise’s decision-makers to repair the building given into renting at the enterprise’s expense. According to documents managed by inquirers, four million lei was earmarked to repair the building.
