International experts to give opinion on Moldova's new code of media audiovisual services next June

Chisinau, 29 May /MOLDPRES/ – The international experts will give opinion in June on legal expertise of draft Code of mass media audiovisual services of Moldova.

At request of Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu, the Council of Europe and Freedom House responded to expertise of Code of mass media audiovisual services, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The draft Code of mass media audiovisual services of Moldova was drafted by national and international experts as well as representatives of civil society within working group of media legislation.

The project was registered in Parliament in March 2018, and in April, following a series of public consultations, it was voted in first reading.

The Code of mass media audiovisual services of Moldova was developed by support of Joint EU and Council of Europe Project "Promoting Media Freedom and Pluralism in Moldova" and US Embassy in Chisinau.

In a new editorial, the Code is to transpose the Directive of the European Parliament and the Council called the Audiovisual Media Services Directive into the national legal framework.

The working group on better media legislation of Moldova was created by order of SP Andrian Candu in June 2017.
