Almost 270 drivers fined for speeding

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/- Nearly 270 drivers were fined yesterday for exceeding the speed limit on the Hancesti - Leova - Cahul - Giurgiulesti route.

Natalia Golovco, a press officer of the National Patrol Inspectorate, said patrol inspectors conducted an operation on the route, where used speed measuring devices.

A number of 268 drivers were found violating the legal speed regime. More than 50% of drivers have exceeded the speed up to 20 km/h. Besides they exceeded the legal speed limit, 31 of them admitted other violations of the Road Traffic Regulation, and a driver was drunk.

According to the legislation, drivers who exceed the legal speed limit are sanctioned with a fine of up to 1,500 lei with penalty of five points.
