Russia marks National Day today

Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/- Russia marks National Day today. The Declaration on Sovereignty was adopted on 12 June 1990.
This celebration was officially named the Day of Russia in 2002 and has since been marked throughout the country. Regarding the Russian Sovereignty Declaration, President Vladimir Putin noted "with this document, it began counting our new history, history of the democratic state, based on citizens' freedoms and the rule of law."
Russia is a country that stretches over vast territory in Europe and Asia. With an area of 17,101,081 square kilometers, Russia is the largest country in the world, almost twice as large as the territory of the second largest country, Canada. However, Russia is only the eighth country in terms of population, with 146.8 million inhabitants.
It exports products of the machine building industry (tractors, cars, aircrafts, machine tools, electrical and electronic equipment), fuels, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, chemicals, building materials, wood and wood materials, paper, etc. It imports industrial equipment and machinery, textiles, agricultural products and consumer goods.
In 2018, Russia's gross domestic product amounts to 4,152 trillion dollars, ranking sixth in the world, and per capita - 28,957 dollars.
Diplomatic relations between Moldova and Russia were set on 6 April 1992.
Data by the National Statistics Bureau shows that in January-April 2018 Moldova exported goods worth 74 million dollars to Russia and imported over 240 million dollars from this state.
