Moldovans settled in Canada, Italy, Denmark, Germany visit parliament

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ – Around 100 citizens of Moldova settled abroad have visited the Parliament in August. Also, for the first time, the Legislature participated at the 8th issue of the Diaspora Congress, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The delegates of the Diaspora Congress of Canada, Italy and Denmark benefited from guided tours in Parliament. The Moldova's legislative forum was also visited by two young people studying in Russia, and they are currently trainees at the Presidency of Moldova. The families of Moldovans living in Germany and Ukraine also visited the Parliament.

In premiere, in 2018, the Parliament participated with an info stand at the works of the Diaspora Congress, 8th issue. The event is organised once every two years at the Diaspora Days by the Diaspora Relations Office (BRD) and represents a platform for dialogue between authorities and the Diaspora on the policies promoted for the Diaspora, as well as the impact of migration on economic, social and political processes of Moldova.

This issue of 2018 brought together 140 representatives of the Diaspora – leaders of associations and initiative groups, representatives of central and local public authorities, as well as our fellow countrymen established in France, Russia, Portugal, Italy, Poland, UK of GB&NI, Denmark, Romania, Latvia, USA, Canada, Ireland, Lebanon, Greece, Lithuania, Spain, Belgium, Slovakia, South Korea, Czech Republic, Germany, Kazakhstan, and Georgia.

In 2018, over 4,500 persons have paid info visits to the Parliament of Moldova. Ten per cent of all visitors were foreign citizens. Among the most active visitors of the Parliament of Moldova were the ones from Romania, UK of GB&NI, Spain and Portugal. The Parliament was also visited by citizens from Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Colombia.
