Leadership of Moldova lays flowers at monument of Stephen the Great and the Holy

Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/ – The leadership of Moldova laid flowers today to monument Mother in grief and to monument of Stephen the Great and the Holy on occasion of the Independence Day.
In the morning, the head of state, Igor Dodon, Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu, and Prime Minister Pavel Filip paid tribute to the celebration.
The officials spoke about the importance of this holiday. "For me, the Independence Day is the most important national holiday. On this day, I am used to take stock of achievements as head of state, politician, for consolidation of statehood, society and development of our country. I know we have a lot of work to do. My main objective is to turn Moldova into an attractive country with a high standard of living so that people do not leave but live and work at home in the native country. I wish very much that all of us, the citizens of this country, be proud of our country – Moldova!", wrote the President in a message posted on a social network.
On occasion of celebration, PM Pavel Filip came with a congratulatory message to citizens. "We all build our independence together, day by day. If we are better with each other, more united, more committed to what we are doing, the same will be with Moldova: more beautiful, better, and more united. Congratulations, dear citizens! Congratulations, Moldova!" wrote Pavel Filip on a social network.
During the laying of flowers, more supporters of the National Resistance Movement (MNR), represented by PAS, Platform DA and PLDM, protested and chanted anti – government slogans. It was formed a cordon of policeman in front of protesters and it was placed a metal fence.
The protests of 26 August have been continuing, when more demonstrators gathered in the centre of Chisinau and protested against the current government. So far, the officials have not stipulated comments on the protest actions.
