Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu have commented on the protests held yesterday and today in the center of the capital. The two officials described demonstrations as "political actions organized in the context of parliamentary elections".
Filip noted that protests of PAS and PPDA would be masked electoral events. "I think we did not have protests yesterday, not even today. What we have had is a political demonstration, attended by the PAS binomial, the PPDA and the Shor Party. I am sorry that these electoral demonstrations started too early before the parliamentary elections. These actions cost the citizens too expensive - three million lei each day. If we calculate about ten political demonstrations that have been so far, with this money we could double the food for children in kindergartens, and we could increase the allowance for young people coming to work in education. At the same time, I thank those who have done their duty. It is about the law enforcement institutions that have faced the challenges without using special means,” he said.
Candu said that through protests, PAS and PPDA would try to promote in the context of parliamentary elections.
“"First of all, it is not about protests, but about actions organized by some political parties and their supporters, who are trying to attract attention to promote themselves in the context of parliamentary elections. It is democratic to protest, but when it comes to trying to destabilize the situation during a national holiday is out of the ordinary. It is not necessary for Independence Day to have such behavior. I am glad that those who have tried to destabilize the situation today have failed to do so. The authorities have completed their planned activities. Otherwise, there are no protests, it is just the manifestation of some political parties, organized more recently by a binomial Maia Sandu and Năstase, and this should already be accustomed to us,” Candu said.
Several supporters of the National Resistance Movement, represented by PAS, DA and PLDM, organized yesterday protests in the center of the capital, in which they chanted anti-governmental slogans. The actions took place concurrently with a protest organized by the Moldovan Party, which took place without the authorization of the City Hall of the capital.
