Deputy premier says Moldova relies on Czech Republic's support in rapprochement with European Union

Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca continues his working visit to Prague on 18-19 September. On the second day, the Moldovan official had meetings with President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech parliament Radek Vondráček, the head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies, former Czech foreign affairs minister Lubomír Zaorálek, as well as the heads of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security of the Senate, Frantisek Bublan, and respectively, of the Committee on EU Affairs of the Senate, Václav Hampl.   

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the discussions were focused on the Moldovan-Czech inter-parliamentary cooperation, domestic political developments in Moldova, progress and difficulties in the implementation of the country’s reforms agenda. At the same time, the sides tackled ways and fields of providing assistance for development by the Czech Republic, Visegrad group states, as well as European institutions for Moldova, in particular, concerning the reform of the judicial system.   

In the context, Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca informed about the security developments in the region, including in the context of the process of Transnistrian conflict settlement, as well as about the dynamic of Moldova’s relations with the states of the region and the European Union.  

President of the Chamber of Deputies Radek Vondráček assured the Moldovan side of the continuous political support and of assistance for development on behalf of the Czech Republic, both at the governmental and parliamentary levels.
