Over 70,000 children from central Moldova district to receive donations on behalf of Italian delegation

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ - Over 70 children from the villages Roscani and Sireti, central Straseni district, today will receive donations on behalf of a delegation from Italy.
The deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, has told a news conference that the donation included supplies and clothes for children.
“Within a campaign titled, Schooled Child – Protected Child, we have managed to help 1,970 children at risk of school dropout to go to education institutions. These children received clothes, satchels and school supplies. Thus, the children were led to school and successfully integrated in collectives,” Cavcaliuc noted.
The campaign was backed by a representative of the Diaspora from Italy, Valentina Geamana, who spoke to authorities of partners from abroad about problems of children from Moldova. “Even if I left Moldova, we know the problems from this country and we try to find solutions. The campaign, which is dedicated to children, raised the awareness of authorities from Italy and today they contribute with the first consignment of assistance. We are happy with this achievement and we want to do as many as possible good deeds for children,” Valentina Geamana said.
Also today, the IGP deputy head informed about the launch of a new campaign of providing support to children at risk who are psychologically hit.
„The new campaign is titled, A Toy for Children’s Smile. Such an initiative appeared following a visit to Germany. The campaign sees that toys for small children are found in police cars. Thus, when coming to a traffic accident or other risk situation with the involvement of a child, policemen with give the small child a toy. Within the campaign, the partners from Germany will come with a donation of toys. Also, we urge citizens to make common cause and donate toys to small children,” Cavcaliuc added.
According to IGP data, in 2017, about 1,400 children were victims of offences. At the same time, another over 400 minors were involved in traffic accidents and more than 300 small children were casualties of the domestic violence.
