Moldovan foreign minister attends High Level Meeting on Non-communicable Diseases

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova has a clear policy on non-communicable disease prevention (NCD), reflected in the National Strategy for prevention and control of major non-communicable diseases (2012-2020) and other documents that provide a basis for partnership and cooperation, encouraging the integration of relevant awareness healthcare policies in all sectors. The statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, at the High Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases within the UN General Assembly.
According to the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported, the Head of Moldovan diplomacy stated that Moldova has made considerable efforts to achieve specific objectives in reducing premature mortality, improving the health of children, while maintaining a level a relatively high vaccination against key childhood illnesses, a reduction in the mortality of newborns and children under the age of five, and the reduction of risk factors for NCD behaviour.
Minister Ulianovschi reiterated the commitment of Moldova to the achievement of the goals set out in Agenda 2030 and the efforts made by Moldova in adopting relevant policy documents to prevent and combat the factors that generate the risk of non-communicable diseases. "Our national development plans have been inspired by the provisions of the European Healthcare Policy Healthcare 2020, the 13th WHO Global Work Programme, and are fully aligned with Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development – an ongoing process in Moldova", said Tudor Ulianovschi.
The High Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases is organized following the adoption of UN General Assembly Resolution 72/274 of 2018 and it is held in New York at the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly.
