Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/ – At the beginning of today meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, referred to closed schools on 20 November because of the snow. The PM said that about 900 pupils did not attend lessons, asking the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) to explain the reasons for the interruption of the activity of the educational institutions, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
"I want to see what has happened in every school because we have managed this situation and all the services have intervened in time. The roads, first of all the national ones, have been cleaned and we have not had any blockages. I want to tell you that it was not something out of the ordinary, just snowing, maybe a little earlier than we expected. Also, even with this first snow we have to understand what did not work," said Premier.
In this context, Pavel Filip has called for mobilisation of all responsible institutions – the Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS) is to ensure the functioning of hospitals and medical institutions and the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) will ensure that all specialised services intervene on time. Another problem that occurs in adverse weather conditions is disconnection from electricity. In order to avoid situations where the localities remain without light, the PM called for further discussions with the system operators so as to ensure a sufficient number of intervention teams.
"We are only at the beginning of the winter – let us be well prepared, to face every time we face heavy snowfalls so that we do not overstate the functionality of the state institutions", concluded PM.
