National agency for public healthcare to have new competencies in Moldova

Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ – The National Agency for Public Healthcare (ANSP) will be empowered with supervisory and control competencies within medical devices. A draft law stipulating it was voted in final reading by MPs today.
According to the document, the ANSP will control the medical devices market, issue prescriptions, apply sanctions and restrictive activity measures. Also, the institution will monitor the actions of economic agents regarding execution of prescriptions and removal of violations. It will review reports on the risks that arise in connection with medical devices.
The new provisions also stipulate that centralised purchases of medical devices and their maintenance services will be carried out by the Centre for centralised healthcare procurement (CAPCS). In order to carry out import, manufacturing, marketing, technical assistance or repair of medical devices and optics, the businessman will be required to have at least one specialist in the field or a bio – engineer.
