Chisinau, 7 March /MOLDPRES/ - The pensions will be indexed by 5.3 per cent starting from 1 April. The figure is almost twice as much against the expected one. The leader of Moldova’s Democratic Party (PDM), Vladimir Plahotniuc, today made statements to this effect at the end of PDM’s weekly meeting.
According to Plahotniuc, the indexation will be made through the taking of responsibility by the cabinet.
"We want to give pensioners a new occasion of happiness and just as we promised ahead of the polls, when we increased the pensions by ten per cent, we come up with the pensions’ indexation by 1 April. The pensions will be indexed by 5.3 per cent, i.e. almost double against the expectations, as the average inflation for the last three years will be taken into account, not only for the previous year,” Plahotniuc noted.
The Democrats’ leader also said that, in fact, in the first months of 2019, the pensions would grow by 15.3 per cent: they were increased by ten per cent in early 2019 and will rise by 5.3 per cent as of next April. “No government has ever made such growths for pensioners,” Plahotniuc added.
