14th National Anticorruption Conference held in Chisinau

Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/- "We need surgical measures to strengthen the state and support the efforts of the National Anticorruption Center to prevent and combat this phenomenon." Speaker Zinaida Greceanîi made the statement today at the opening of the National Anticorruption Conference, held on International Anti-Corruption Day, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
"We will succeed if we work in a coordinated manner, with joint efforts and pragmatic, realistic and resolute approaches, and the involvement of society, the public and private sectors in the fight against abuses and bribery is vital", she said.
The speaker said that the priority of the authorities is the fight against corruption in all its forms: small, large or systemic and the delivery of visible results in accordance with the objectives set out in the strategies, activity plans and national anti-corruption legislation.
Greceanii reiterated the parliament’s openness for institutions of any level in setting new goals for achieving the common goal - Moldova without corruption, strong and prosperous Moldova. In this context, the speaker pointed out that the real reforms must start from all of us, from awareness of corruption to own involvement in order to cultivate public integrity and create zero climate of corruption in state institutions.
The 14th National Anticorruption Conference is being held this year under the slogan - Sectoral approach to corruption: progress and shortcomings. The event takes place in the context of the International Anti-Corruption Day, set out by the United Nations Resolution of 31 October 2003. The conference is attended by members of the government, representatives of development partners and donors.
