Secretariat of Parliamentary Assembly of Commonwealth of Independent States backs Moldova in fighting COVID-19

Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has made a donation for Moldova to combat COVID-19. The donation is worth 250,000 lei and today was transferred by the Secretariat of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly, headquartered in Saint Petersburg, on the treasury account of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii thanked the CIS Parliamentary Assembly for the support provided in difficult situation, faced not by Moldova, but also the other member states of the Commonwealth, as well as the entire world.
”We appreciate the gesture of support and goodwill, which confirms once again the sincere attitude towards Moldova and its people,’’ Zinaida Greceanii said. She voiced hope that the money donated would facilitate the medical institutions’ efforts in the difficult task to overcome the pandemic crisis.
The CIS Parliamentary Assembly is made up of the parliaments of ten member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly is the standing administrative body of the Council of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly. Moldova is the first member country to benefit from institution’s support in fighting COVID-19.
