Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission / CEC / will ask the government for another 22 million lei for snap parliamentary elections on 11 July.

CEC head Dorin Cimil said at a today's briefing that 22.4 million lei are needed for the 11 July elections.

According to the official, the Cabinet of Ministers should meet to allocate the necessary financial resources. "Government officials have asked us for a written document, which we will send. The resources allocated so far for the conduct of snap elections do not cover the entire financial need. So far, no meeting has been planned on the agenda to include the subject of the election financing ", said Cimil.

In May, the central electoral administration requested the amount of 125 million lei for the conduct of the July 11 election exercise. The government then allocated the amount of 70 million lei. Interim Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi said that, "if the amount allocated proves to be insufficient, the Executive will seek new financial opportunities to support the needs of the Central Electoral Commission."

In the electoral race for the seat of deputy in the future Legislature, 23 electoral contestants entered, including two electoral blocs and an independent candidate. According to the CEC, there are a total of 1791 electoral candidates, of which 837 are women.

3.6 million ballots will be printed for the July 11 elections. On the day of the parliamentary election, more than two thousand polling stations will be opened.
