Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ - The State Administration of Roads (ASD) and the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) today signed an agreement on inter-institutional cooperation, which provides for exchange of data and information received from meteorological stations, experience and good practices. The agreement establishes the combination of results of meteorological observations and implementation of the road meteorological system in Moldova.
“The cooperation between the two institutions will ensure the creation of friendly conditions for exchange of experience and methodologies as to the forecasting of dangerous hydro-meteorological phenomena, as well as quick informing about their consequences, in order to take prompt decisions,’’ the ASD acting director general, Veaceslav Potop, said.
Thus, the sides will consult each other as to issues on the enforcement of the legislation in the sectors within their competence, will carry out studies with the setting up of joint teams of experts, as well as analyses to identify and access development funds.
Also, the cooperation agreement sees mutual use of the findings of the meteorological observations of SHS and ASD and ‘’will improve the meteorological monitoring on the territory of Moldova,’’ according to the acting director general of the State Hydrometeorological Service, Mihail Grigoras.
The automated meteorological stations set at ASD and SHS provide the measuring of the atmospheric pressure, air temperature and humidity, wind’s direction and speed, quantity of precipitation, temperature of the soil’s surface, etc. These characteristics are essential for checking the conditions of movement, especially during winter, in order to quickly identify the road segments where the intervention of road workers with special equipment for combating glazed frost is necessary.
