Movement of high-tonnage transport means limited in Moldova on days with air temperatures higher than +30 Celsius degrees

Chisinau, 30 June /MOLDPRES/ - The State Administration of Roads (ASD) warns about the establishment of temporary restriction of movement for the transport means with the overall mass exceeding 20 tons on the national roads with road pavement of asphalt concrete on days with air temperatures higher than +30 Celsius degrees.       

The movement of the high-tonnage transport means on the national roads is banned in the time interval 10:00-20:00, in order to prevent the deterioration of the road segments with low bearing capacity and enhanced traffic. In this respect, the concerned restrictive road signs are set, ASD said.  

The restrictions do not regard the vehicles which carry people, living animals and perishable goods of animal and vegetal origin, which participate in force majeure interventions, the ones endowed with first aid equipment and/or involved in the prevention, liquidation of emergency situation, vehicles meant for the transport of goods under checked temperature and the ones involved in the restoration of roads within the limits of construction sites.    

The carrying out of the road transport with the infringement of the movement restrictions as to the overall mass of vehicles, if the air temperature is higher than +30 Celsius degrees, is sanctioned according to the provisions of the Article 224, paragraph (12) of Moldova’s Contravention Code.  The article sees that the non-observance by drivers of the tonnage restrictions is sanctioned with fine worth from 20 to 30 conventional units, imposed to a private person, with fine worth from 50 to 100 conventional units imposed to a legal entity. 

ASD urges participants in the traffic to inform the National Public Security Inspectorate at the 112 phone number, if they notice the movement of high-tonnage vehicles on national public roads with restricted access for these cars.
