Chisinau, 8 July /MOLDPRES/- Over three hundred nurses received kits with anthropometry equipment, which include a textile bag for weighing the child, a portable scale, a stadiometer and a measuring tape. They will be used during home visits in Ungheni and Cahul districts.
"Health services for families and children are indispensable for economic development. People in Ungheni and Cahul, especially young people, who are both productive and reproductive, need such services to carry out potential both in the profession and family. Without quality services for families and children, smart, inclusive and sustainable economic growth cannot be achieved in the two districts, ”said Viorica Volovei, program coordinator of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for the EU4Moldova project.
The home visit program aims to support parents in the care and upbringing of young children, but also to help pregnant women until after birth. Home visits form a trusting relationship between nurses and parents, thus contributing to a better family medicine system.
"Home visits bring health services to the door of every family. It is important that the health system is accessible and friendly to people, to be connected to families, pregnant women and young children, both in urban and rural areas, including in peripheral areas, "said Ninel Revenco, head of the Department Pediatrics of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy Nicolae Testemitanu.
The equipment was donated within the European Union projects EU4Moldova - Key Regions and EVA - Promoting gender equality in Cahul and Ungheni districts. The total value of the acquisition is 398 thousand lei.
