Chisinau, 8 July /MOLDPRES/- Consolidated Programme Implementation Unit of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (UCIP-IFAD) announced the launch of a competition for the receipt of applications for competitive grants for rehabilitation and establishment of grass cover. The deadline for submitting applications is 6 August.

The grants are supported by the Rural Resilience Project (PRR), implemented by IFAD, aimed at reducing rural poverty in the Republic of Moldova by promoting access to adequate financial services. Particular attention in the Program is given to the development and implementation of high-performance technologies in agriculture and sustainable soil management, with a positive impact on ecosystems. "Restoring the natural vegetation cover and soil productivity contributes to increasing the resilience to climate change of rural communities, agricultural land and ecosystems at the level of agricultural landscapes," according to IFAD.

For the establishment / rehabilitation of grass cover, 100% grants will be awarded (not including VAT) to cover the costs of implementation of the works.

The maximum area established / rehabilitated for a beneficiary will not exceed 10 hectares. Also, the beneficiaries (local public administration) will contribute financially only if the cost of works for the establishment / rehabilitation of grass cover will be higher than 700 dollars per hectare.
