Moldovan acting PM meets mission of observers of International Organization of La Francophonie

Chisinau, 8 July /MOLDPRES/ - The mission of observers of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) for monitoring the snap parliamentary elections today had a meeting with acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The acting PM appreciated the decision by the OIF Secretary General Louise Mushikiwabo to accept an invitation by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to send a mission for monitoring the ballot to Chisinau. Aureliu Ciocoi gave assurances that the institutions in charge had taken all needed measures to ensure the good carrying out of the forthcoming elections.

„Intense work has been carried out to organize the ballot. I hope very much that the electoral exercise will be free, fair and will allow each citizen, no matter where he/she is, to be able to express its political option. Besides, I expect these elections to allow boosting the sustainable development of Moldova, modernizing in all sectors and, certainly, improving the living standards,’’ the acting prime minister said.

The OIF representatives noted that the observers would attentively monitor the entire electoral process, after which the mission will make a summing-up report.

The sides expressed confidence that the Moldova-OIF relations would advance and the cooperation would become more dynamic as regards the initiation of joint projects, including in the education sector. One of them is already underway and is focused on the financing of the studying of the French language by the carabineers from Moldova, who train to participate in peacekeeping missions.

NOTE: The Central Electoral Commission has accredited for the 11 July ballot 636 international observers, who represent 17 diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova, 30 international electoral experts on behalf of 11 foreign electoral authorities and 606 representatives 14 international organizations.
