Court of Appeal decision to reduce polling stations for voters from Transnistria to be challenged

Chisinau, 9 July /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission will challenge in court yesterday's decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeal saying that the number of polling stations for voters in the Transnistrian region must be reduced from 41 to a maximum of 12.

CEC head Dorin Cimil said at a today's press conference that the central electoral administration will appeal to the Supreme Court of Justice the decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeal.

According to Cimil, the polling stations for voters in the Transnistrian region are open on the territory controlled by the Chisinau authorities, and the electoral process will take place in accordance with legal provisions.

The Chisinau Court of Appeal issued a ruling on Thursday stating that the number of polling stations for voters in the Transnistrian region should be reduced from 41 to a maximum of 12.

The Central Electoral Commission has 24 hours to challenge the decision of the Court of Appeal in the higher court.
