Moldova to receive consignment of 150,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine

Chisinau, 9 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will receive a consignment of 150,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine produced in the United States. The vaccines will be delivered through the COVAX platform on 12 July 2021.
According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, Moldova is to receive an overall amount of 500,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine through the COVAX platform.
The vaccine is produced by the American pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson. According to the producer, the product turns to account the platform of vaccines AdVac – a unique technology used also for the development of the vaccine against the Ebola disease, approved by the European Commission. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly and is recommended to people with ages of at least 18 years.
President Maia Sandu welcomed the decision by the USA to donate those 500,000 doses of vaccine through the COVAX platform.
The head of state thanked the United States for this important donation. ‘’We also thank all countries which joined their powers to back the COVAX platform, thus making possible the access to the vaccine for as many states as possible. Now, we must also mobilize, equally united, and be vaccinated. This is the only chance for us to remain healthy – for us and our relatives,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
