Moldovan speaker talks to members of OSCE PA election observation delegation

Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Zinaida Greceanii met today with members of delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) to observe early parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova.

The Speaker appreciated the importance of international observers in ensuring a fair, transparent electoral process for all competitors. "Every citizen of our country must be able to exercise his right to vote freely and safely. I urge you to monitor compliance with European standards in all polling stations open to snap parliamentary elections, "said the Speaker.

Zinaida Greceanii stressed that the presence of observers is very important both in the polling stations inside the country and outside the Republic of Moldova.

According to the special coordinator of the OSCE's short-term observation mission, Ditmir Bushati, the members of the mission will monitor the polls in the polling stations in Balti, Orhei, Comrat and Chisinau. They will monitor the implementation of the recommendations and commitments assumed by the Republic of Moldova, as a member of the OSCE.

The delegation members said that 60 long-term observers and about 300 short-term observers are involved in the election observation mission of the Republic of Moldova from the OSCE Election Observation Mission.
