Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/- These elections are about the power of the people, not about the power of politicians, and I want to encourage them to believe in their power. President Maia Sandu made the statement after exercising her right to vote in snap parliamentary elections today.
"Today, citizens can choose an honest legislator who works in their interest. Parliament manages the country's money and we must be careful who we give this right to. The Parliament votes laws and these laws must be for the benefit of the people ", Maia Sandu said.
Maia Sandu said she wants to work "with an honest parliament and a competent and responsible government". "Together to make life better for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, together to clean the state institutions and make them functional with honest people. The power is in the hands of the people and I am confident that the citizens will choose the right path towards the creation of a developed and democratic state ", said Maia Sandu when leaving the polling station.
At the same time, the President noted that she is looking at what difficulties the citizens face in order to exercise their right to vote. Maia Sandu urged the officials and people responsible for the smooth running of the parliamentary elections to do their job honestly and in accordance with the law, not to distort or violate the law, otherwise they will be sanctioned.
On 28 April, Maia Sandu signed the decree dissolving the Legislature and announced that snap parliamentary elections will take place on 11 July.
