Snap parliamentary elections can be declared valid in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ - The rate of participation in the 11 July snap parliamentary elections has exceeded the figure of 33 per cent; thus, the elections can be declared valid.
At a news briefing held at 16:00, the head of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Dorin Cimil, said that more than one million people had participated in the snap parliamentary polls and the 33-per cent participation rate for the elections’ validation was exceeded.
„We have exceeded the figure of one million people who participated in the voting. We have a large number of electors who voted abroad – over 140,000 people. The participation rate of 33 per cent for the polls’ validation has been exceeded,’’ Cimil noted.
The official informed that, at 15:00, the polling stations from Japan and China had closed, while the ones from the eastern coast of the United States had opened. At the same time, Dorin Cimil specified that over 2,000 ballot papers had ended at 15 polling stations on the European continent. The figure of 2,000 ballot papers used by voters was exceeded in France, Germany, the United Kingdom,’’ Cimil also said.
As many as 2,150 polling stations were set up at the today’s ballot, of which 150 abroad and 41- in settlements from the left bank of Dniester. As many as 3,282,288 citizens of Moldova with right to vote are expected to cast their ballots.
