Moldovan electoral body confirms result of parliamentary elections, MP mandates

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has confirmed the results of the 11 July snap parliamentary elections and submitted the decision to the Constitutional Court (CCM) for validation.
The CEC members today tabulated the results of the snap parliamentary elections. The head of the central electoral authority, Dorin Cimil, said that the ‘’11 July parliamentary elections are regarded as valid.’’
At the same time, by their voting, the CEC members established the number of mandates given to the political formations and electoral blocs. Thus, the Action and Solidarity Party got 63 lawmaker mandates, the Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists – 32 mandates and the Shor Party – 6 mandates.
The decision on the tabulation of the parliamentary elections and the one on the distribution of the MP mandates will be sent to the Constitutional Court.
CCM has at its disposal five days to give its opinion, in a note, on the elections’ lawfulness. The deadline is on 25 July.
At the fist parliament meeting, the president of the Constitutional Court presents the report on the results of the elections and the validation of the mandates of the lawmakers elected. For her part, the Moldovan president will convey a message to the MPs. The parliament fully enters its powers starting the date of its foundation meeting.
