Registration of candidates for local legislative body starts in Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia În UTA

Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - The electoral commission from the Gagauz autonomy today started the registration of candidates for the elections to the People’s Assembly (local legislative body) of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauz-Yeri (APG). The process will be held with the strict observance of the norms of combating COVID-19.
Under the commission’s decision, not more than three persons will have access to the headquarters of the electoral institution, who will compulsorily disinfect their hands, will measure the body temperature and will wear masks. Also, the social distance will be observed in the commission’s building, the space will be hygienized and other prevention measures will be taken. For these measures, the regional commission will additionally employ two persons during the electoral campaign.
The commission has earlier established that the elections to the People’s Assembly would be covered by more media outlets from the region. The way of covering the event is stipulated in the editorial statements presented to the electoral commission from the region. Thus, the participants in the commission’s meeting approved 14 statements, of which six ones are from TV stations, fives statements are from radio stations, two ones from web portals and one newspaper.
The elections to APG will take place on 19 September. The region’s citizens will have to elect 35 local lawmakers by direct vote for a four-year mandate.
