Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, turns down the idea of getting involved in politics.
Participating in a TV programme, the Chisinau mayor said that his priority was the settlement of multiple problems faced by the city. ‘’I voice hope that the Chisinau municipality will have a good cooperation with the new governance; if this does not happen, the municipality will continue the work on its own account,’’ Ceban said at the Jurnal TV station.
The mayor noted that he had earlier recommended that the city hall’s employees do not get involved in the electoral campaign and the he observed the same thing. ‘’I take part in some meetings of the Party of Socialists (PCRM), as subjects concerning including the work of the city hall or of the Chisinau Municipal Council are discussed there. I avoided getting involved in the recent electoral campaign and I recommended the same thing to the city hall’s civil servants,’’ Ceban specified.
Ion Ceban rejected the idea of his involvement in political activity. ‘’I have no time for other things. Everything I do now is to strengthen the team and cope with the expectations of the city’s residents,’’ the mayor said.
Ceban stressed that ‘’80 per cent of the parliament’s lawmakers live in the Chisinau city, which means that the problems are common, they are not only mine’’ and came up with the initiative of joint settlement of these problems. ‘’I hope that we will have a correct communication and for the residents’ benefit. If this does not happen, we will act on our own account,’’ Ion Ceban added.
