Another 100,620 doses of Pfizer vaccine, donated by Romania, brought to Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - Another consignment of 100,620 doses of Pfizer BioNTech vaccine, donated for free by Romania, were brought to Chisinau today. Thus, there are almost half a million doses of vaccine donated by Bucharest to Moldova.    

Attending the ceremony on the delivery of the donation were Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu, Ambassador of Romania to Moldova Daniel Ionita, the presidential adviser in the health sector, Ala Nemerenco, and the state secretary at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, Denis Cernelea.    

„My visit to Moldova comes in continuation as a support for the reformation agenda in Chisinau. And the donation of vaccine is a direct support for Moldova’s citizens,’’ Aurescu said.   

Presidential adviser Ala Nemerenco said that Romania had been the most important partners which backed Moldova in the pandemic, through donations, as well as through teams of physicians. Almost a half of those over 1 million 340,000 vaccines received by Moldova through various platforms so far represent donations from Romania.  

Romania has provided more than 400,000 doses of anti-COVID vaccine in five installments to Moldova till present and contributed with donations of medical equipment worth 5.8 million euros.
