Moldovan flutist would have turned 80 today

Chisinau, 5 August /MOLDPRES/- Flutist Ion Zaharia, former university professor, People's Artist would have turned 80 today.
He recorded on Radio Moldova over 60 works from the creations of composers B. Marcello, G. Verdi, Gh. Neaga, D. Buzilă and others. He has written over 30 compositions for flute, guitar, cello, organ.
Winner of the Young Singers Contest in Chisinau (1963), Honored Artist of the Republic of Moldova (1976), People's Artist of the Republic of Moldova (1992); Member of the Musicians' Union of Moldova.
He was awarded the Labor Glory Order (1999), Golden Trophy at the Pyongyang Music Festival, North Korea (2001).
Ion Zaharia died on November 24, 2020.
