Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Mihail Kogalniceanu National Literature Museum (MNLMK) has recently organized a news conference dedicated to the Spanish Language Day and the relations of Mihail Kogalniceanu with Spain.
The conference was given by the most advised Hispanist from Moldova, Sergiu Pavlicenco, university professor, PhD in philology at the Letters Faculty of the Moldovan State University (USM).
At the event, university professor Sergiu Pavlicenco said that the notes on the travel to Spain by Mihail Kogalniceanu, where he had described the manners and customs of this country, were quite important for the Romanian literature.
In 1846, the future forty-eighter leader Mihail Kogalniceanu made a travel to Spain, after which he wrote his memorable travel notes in French titled, Notes sur l’Espagne. Although he came from a far-away East-European principality, the young writer discovered resemblances, as well as differences between his origin country and Spain. For instance, ‘’the horizon, kind of culture, type and clothes of the residents, the bull carts are alike.’’ The notices of an exponential and eminent writer, political figure of the 19th century represent a good occasion to speak about the then and the present cultural Romanian-Spanish relations.
