Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the parliament’s commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media today approved a draft law on the amendment of the code of audiovisual media services, the goal of which is to make more responsible the national public provider, Teleradio-Moldova Company.
The draft’s authors suggest the return of the national public provider of media services under parliamentary control. This under the circumstances when the Teleradio-Moldova Company was always under parliament’s control before 2019.
Another provision of the document approved by the commission is the revising of the mechanism of constitution of the composition of the council of supervision of the national public provider of media services and of the Audiovisual Council (CA). At the same time, the draft proposes dismissal of the CA members, if the parliament turns down the annual activity report.
The document also stipulates that the mandate of the present members of the supervision council, of the director general of the Teleradio-Moldova Company and the deputy directors general ceases de jure on the date of the entrance into force of the draft law.
