Education ministry says 538 classes from Moldova's schools in quarantine on 15 October

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Education and Research Ministry (MEC) today informs that 538 classes were in quarantine on 15 October, as compared to 490 ones closed in quarantine one week before (8 October.)
According to the ministry, there were 751 pupils tested positive with COVID-19 (against 708 ones in the previous week); 12,938 pupils were in self-isolation regime (as compared to 11,791 ones in the last week); 260 teachers were confirmed positive (against 220 ones in the previous week) and 210 teachers were in self-isolation (as compared to 172 ones in the previous week.).
„Seventy two people out of the non-didactic and auxiliary staff were infected with the new virus (as compared with 65 in the previous week); 77 people were in self-isolation (against 61 in the previous week). At the same time, we inform that, on 15 October, nine early education institutions and 55 groups of children were in quarantine, as compared to 5 institutions and 54 groups on the previous period (8 October), ‘’MEC said.
According to MEC, there were 35 children confirmed positive with the COVID-19 virus (against 32 ones on the previous period); 1,577 children were in self-isolation (as compared with 1,338 ones on the earlier period); 91 teachers were confirmed positive with the COVID-19 virus (as compared with 89 ones on the previous period) and 107 teachers were in self-isolation (against 89 on the earlier period).
„Forty four people out of the non-didactic and auxiliary staff were infected with the new-type coronavirus; another 109 were in self-isolation (against 37 people infected and 114 in self-isolation on the previous period).
As for the vocational education institutions and higher education institutions, which work online, no significant increases in the number of cases of infection with COVID-19 were recorded on 15 October, the Education Ministry also said.
The Education and Research Ministry reiterates the urge to the heads of the education institutions, teachers and pupils to observe all measures of protection against the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
