National trees planting campaign to start in Moldova on 13 November

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ - The national campaign of the country’s greening, titled, A Tree for Our Survival, in 2021 will be launched on 13 November, as this is ‘’the post opportune period for planting and completing the forest crops, as well as develop the network of green areas.’’ Environment Minister Iuliana Cantaragiu made statements to this effect at a today’s news conference dedicated to the event.
„On the period of the planting campaign, works of creating forest crops and natural regeneration will be carried out on an area of 347 hectares. On this purpose, about 30 tons of acorns will be provided for planting in soil. As many as 2.5 million forest seedlings will be provided for planting in November, when the campaign will be carried out,’’ the official said.
According to the minister, presently, 24 forest entities are involved in the preparation of grounds from the State Forest Fund, where works will be carried out to plant trees, help the natural regeneration, works of completing forest crops, take out and sort the planting material from nurseries, creation of new crops and sections of pricking out seedlings.
Iuliana Cantaragiu informed that, on 13 November, the central public authorities would have opportunity to participate in the campaign, A Tree for Our Survival, through planting actions on an area of 40.5 hectares, for which 105,000 seedlings of oak-tree, red oak-tree, ash-tree, poplar tree and acacia and about 1,700 kg of acorns will be made available. ‘’The places where the cabinet members are to plant will be established closer to 13 November,’’ the environment minister said.
The National Day of Country’s Greening, A Tree for Our Survival, was established under presidential decree in 1995.
