Moldovan government supports inclusion of disabled people in all sectors

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved a draft law on the ratification of the Optional Protocol to the Convention of the United Nations Organization on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, adopted on 13 December 2006, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The document guarantees the promotion, protection and ensuring of the full exercising and in quality conditions of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all people with disabilities and promotion of the respect for their dignity.
As part of the concerned treaty, Moldova will ensure the observance of the rights of the persons with disabilities in all sectors, including the social, economic, cultural, health, education, information and communication fields, etc.
Thus, the government will be able to take measures, in order to fully include the rights envisaged in the Convention in the national legislation and policies. The document also sees a mechanism of individual complaints and the procedure of reception, examination and analysis by the States Parties of the cases of infringement of the rights of people with disabilities. Astfel, Guvernul va putea lua măsuri în vederea includerii depline a drepturilor prevăzute în Convenție în legislația și politicile naționale. Documentul mai prevede un mecanism de plângeri individuale, fiind reglementată procedura de primire, examinare și analiză de către Statele Parte a cazurilor de încălcare a drepturilor persoanelor cu dizabilități.
Moldova ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities through the Law No 166/2010. Under the Moldovan President’s decree No 2016/2017, the signing of the Optional Protocol to the Convention of the United Nations Organization on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was approved. So far, 94 states have signed the document.
