Romanian PM says Romania always by the side of Moldova

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - „The joint government meeting, as well as the package of documents which we have signed in Chisinau reconfirm our full support for the strengthening of Moldova’s stability and security,’’ Prime Minister of Romania Niciolae Ciuca said at a today’s news conference, held jointly with his counterpart from Moldova Natalia Gavrilita, after the joint meetings of the cabinets of ministers.
„I want this accelerated pace, in which we started working together, to become a constant thing for the implementation of the common agenda,’’ the Romanian PM noted. Ciuca thanked for the warm reception at the Moldovan-Romanian joint meeting of governments, held in Chisinau for the first time ever.
„The today’s meeting gave us opportunity of a solid dialogue on the common priorities of the two cabinets. I conveyed to the government led by Natalia Gavrilita a firm and sincere message for Moldova’s European integration, as well as for the process of deep reform, carried out by the Chisinau government. I welcomed the excellent dynamic of the dialogue and the bilateral cooperation which we presently have at all levels. Romania has always been by the side of Moldova,’’ Nicolae Ciuca said.
Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said that both teams had come determined to fully use the opportunities on the bilateral agenda, for actions with direct impact on the quality of life of the citizens from both banks of the Prut river.
„This was a working meeting, not only a festive one. Both teams have come determined to fully use the opportunities on the bilateral agenda for actions with direct impact on the quality of life of the citizens from both banks of Prut. In this respect, there is a decision to build a new bridge across the Prut river, which will connect settlements with the same name Ungheni-Ungheni, cutting the roaming tariffs, signing the memorandum in the energy security sector. We hope that, through these partnerships, we will persuade all political actors from Moldova that all citizens only benefit from this cooperation. We had a special understanding, as well as an exceptional productivity for the future projects and the ideas of deepening of our cooperation,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.
In 2020, Romania provided Moldova with a record assistance of 46.8 million euros in the education, research sector and for education scholarships. Also, farmers from Moldova received over 6,000 tons of diesel on behalf of Romania. The volume of trade for 2021 is of 2.4 billion dollars, which is a record in the bilateral relations.
The fifth joint meeting of the governments of Romania and Moldova took place in Chisinau today. The first joint meeting was held in Iasi on 3 March 2012. On 22 September 2015, the second meeting took place in Neptun; the third meeting was held in Piatra-Neamt on 23 March 2017 and the fourth joint meeting of the Romanian and Moldovan governments was held in Bucharest on 22 November 2018.
