More Moldovan-Romanian bilateral documents in education, research sector signed in Chisinau

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - Education and Research Minister Anatolie Topala and Research, Innovation and Digitalization Minister of Romania Ioan Marcel Bolos signed more documents on cooperation in the education and research sector at a joint meeting of the governments of Moldova and Romania, held in Chisinau today.
Thus, the sides signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Education and Research Ministry of Moldova (MEC) and the Research, Innovation and Digitalization Ministry of Romania in the field of research, development and innovation and the protocol on cooperation between the Education and Research Ministry of Moldova and the Education Ministry of Romania for 2022-2026.
The memorandum’s goal is to consolidate the cooperation relations in the sector of scientific research, technological development and innovation, in order to achieve the national objectives of social and economic development. Based on this Memorandum, the Research, Innovation and Digitalization Ministry of Romania will provide assistance and expertise needed for backing the process of reform in the field of research, development and innovation in Moldova, in order to promote the country’s interests in the process of association and integration into the European Union.
The memorandum will favour the cooperation of the signatory sides, in order to promote projects on research, development and innovation between collectives made up of researchers from both countries, joint organization of international scientific events and ensuring the inter-academic and inter-university exchange at research institutions from Moldova and Romania. Also, the sides will implement joint projects in the framework provided by the regional and European programmes in the field of research, development and innovation, will facilitate the exchange of scientific materials and publications, will use and develop also other forms or actions of scientific cooperation, established by common consent.
Based on the protocol on cooperation, the Education Ministry of Romania will annually allocate 2,550 places of education, of which 950 for the pre-university education, 1,100 for the higher education, 450 for master university education and 50 for doctoral studies. These places will be provided following the results of the admission organized by the higher state education institutions from Romania.
At the same time, the cooperation protocol sees that the Education and Research Ministry of Moldova will annually provide to young people from Romania 200 scholarships at those three cycles of higher education. Also, the Moldovan side will provide scholarships for academic mobilities, will organize training and specialization probationaries for teachers from the pre-university, university and research education.
The protocol also stipulates the cooperation of the two sides, in order invite pupils and students from Moldova and, respectively, Romania, to participate in Olympiads and contests organized on the territory of the other state.
