Moldova, Romania to closely cooperate in economic, investment sector

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Ministers Natalia Gavrilita and Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca in Chisinau today signed the Joint Declaration of the governments of Moldova and Romania on the consolidation of the cooperation in the economic and investment sectors, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Thus, the Chisinau and Bucharest cabinets are to boost the bilateral economic, commercial relations, to promote investments between the two states, as well as are to make joint efforts for the economic recovery following the crisis triggered by COVID-19.
„The government I lead took a clear-cut and unequivocal commitment to provide a predictable and attractive framework for those who want to do business in Moldova, in accordance with the best European practices. And the reforms underway, especially in the justice sector, are meant to give investors certainty that their business could be developing correctly, without hindrances or arbitrary interventions by obscure groups of interests,’’ PM Natalia Gavrilita said at the joint meeting of the Moldovan and Romanian cabinets.
According to the declaration signed by the two officials, the Moldovan authorities and the Romanian ones will enhance activities, in order to improve the business environment in Moldova, ensure a predictable, fair and stable investment climate for the Romanian firms, strengthen the stability of the financial sector, ensure a sound competition climate, etc.
At the same time, the document will facilitate the increase of Moldova’s exports to the European market, the strengthening of Moldova’s energy security, based on the diversification of the supply sources, as well as the promotion of tourism.
The implementation of the actions provided for in the Joint Declaration of the governments of Moldova and Romania will be annually assessed by the cabinets’ members and the need of its updating will be revised.
