Chisinau, 14 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- An organization of cyclists in Chisinau will monitor the budget allocated for the development of alternative transport infrastructure.
Chisinau Bicycle Alliance announced that it has established, together with the experts of the Transport and Communication Department, the priorities for capitalizing on the four million lei budget allocated to the development of alternative transport infrastructure in the municipality. "For a year I understood the major impediments that need to be addressed. We have created a direct dialogue with the authorities and we have understood how the institutional processes work, we are moving towards 2022 with a full agenda, a lot of energy and determination. The setting of a precedent worked, the budget of 4 million lei has been reallocated for this year, and we will monitor and make sure that its use is as efficient as possible ", it is shown in the communiqué of the non-governmental organization.
According to the representatives of the group of cyclists, the lack of expertise and awareness of the need for an alternative infrastructure constantly complicates the process of its emergence, and this takes place in the context in which, in 2020, the Public Services Agency had registered in Chisinau 218,858 private cars . "We will help the mayor's office to formulate a clear and firm vision regarding the development of the city".
The Chisinau Bicycle Alliance is an umbrella organization that brings together several NGOs of cyclists who advocate for the emergence of a comfortable, safe and efficient alternative transport infrastructure in the capital.
