Moldovan speaker meets new Chinese ambassador

Chisinau, 14 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- Speaker Igor Grosu had a meeting today with Chinese Ambassador to Moldova Yan Wenbin, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

Igor Grosu congratulated the interlocutor on the occasion of his accreditation as ambassador in our country, wishing him success in his diplomatic mandate.

The officials discussed stepping up Moldovan-Chinese cooperation in trade, economy, education, technology, renewable energy and so on. In this context, the head of the Legislature welcomed the recent inauguration of the largest photovoltaic park in the Republic of Moldova, built with the support of the Chinese Government, and assured that the state will continue efforts to improve the investment environment in our country.

"We are interested in projects to strengthen the country's energy security, so we will support any initiative that will contribute to increasing energy resilience and diversifying Moldova's energy supply resources," said Igor Grosu.

The speaker also discussed the Winter Olympics that are taking place these days in Beijing, where the Republic of Moldova is represented by 5 athletes. Even if Moldova cannot boast of great traditions in winter sports, the evolution of biathlete Alina Stremous was noted, who occupied a prestigious place - 10 in the sprint race in Biathlon and qualified for the mass-start competition where only those competing top 30 biathletes on the planet.
