Tourist Information Center to be built in Ungheni

Chisinau, 15 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- Ungheni will have a Tourist Information Center in about three years. It will be built with the support of the European Union, under the Mayors for economic growth initiative implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

"It will not only be a simple information center, but also an exhibition center, where visitors will be able to learn about the objectives and tourist routes in the region, everything that happens in the Ungheni region", according to mayor of Ungheni Alexandru Ambros.

The project, Sustainable actions for economic growth through tourism has as general objective sustainable economic development and the creation of a positive image of the Ungheni region as a tourist destination. The total budget is 762,251 euros, and the grant offered by the European Union to the city hall of Ungheni is 544,395 euros.

The Tourist Information Center will be built in the Grigore Vieru Square. The technical project and the expenditure estimate are currently being implemented. This year, the actual construction of the building will begin, which will be completed in 2024. "Once this Center starts operating, a significant improvement in the quality of services offered to potential tourists is expected," says Ungheni city hall.

The project also provides for the acquisition of an integrated system for organizing events. It is a professional mobile stage, with an area of ​​about 80 square meters, which will also have an LED screen, it will be easy to assemble and disassemble. Thus, the events that will be organized in Ungheni outdoors will increase in quality and will be even closer to international standards.

The grant agreement for this project was signed in December 2021. Thanks to the EU initiative Mayors for economic growth, grants for economic, social and cultural development, along with Ungheni, benefit six other localities: Cahul, Calarasi, Carpineni, Causeni , Ceadâr-Lunga, Șoldănești.
