United States asked citizens not to travel to districts on left bank of Dniester

Chisinau, 15 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- The United States Department of State has asked its citizens not to travel to the districts on the left bank of the Dniester of the Republic of Moldova.
In the note published on the Department's website, American citizens are urged to leave the area.
"You are not traveling to the Transnistrian region because of the situation around Ukraine and the unresolved conflict in that region. "American citizens should leave the region by commercial or private means," the statement said.
The same document states that American visitors may encounter difficulties at checkpoints along roads leading to / from the left bank of the Dniester, and photography of military installations and security forces is prohibited and may lead to problems with the authorities.
At the same time, the US State Department advised its citizens not to travel to the Republic of Moldova due to the very high level of COVID-19 infection.
