Moldovan parliament speaker participates in ceremony dedicated to day of commemoration of people dead in Arghanistan war

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today participated in a ceremony dedicated to the day of commemoration of the people dead in the Afghanistan war. Attending the event were government officials, veterans, members of the families of those who were killed in this war, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.
The speaker laid flowers at the memorial complex, Holy Memory to Motherland’s Son, and commemorated the war’s victims by laying flowers at the memorial plaques; meanwhile, the names of those 301 Moldovans dead in the Afghanistan war were read.
The participants in the event stood silent for a minute in the memory of the dead soldiers.
The 33rd anniversary of the withdrawal of the Soviet troops from Afghanistan is marked today.
Almost 13,000 Moldovans participated in the Afghanistan war.
